An Activity for Preschoolers:
Want to have some fun with your students at Christmas time? How about making life size
gingerbread cut outs (that look like giant cookie) and put your student's faces in the
middle.

Before You Begin:
Draw out the shape of a gingerbread cookie onto a piece of poster board and have the
children cut out the shape. Have brown Biocolor® paint, white Biocolor® paint, shaving
cream, roller brushes, shaving style brushes, glue, shaving cream, red sequins and a large
picture of your student's face.

Activity Goals:
To create a giant gingerbread person with basic art materials.

Furthermore:
I did this with my special needs pre-k students. We did the project in steps and it turned
out great! I hot glued the gingerbread men to the outside of my portable and it looked like
a scene out of Candy Land.

Steps:

1. First, have the children paint the puppets with gold or silver glitter paint or metallic paint.
   There’s no right way to do it, encourage the kids to use their imaginations!
2. Let dry.
3. Then have children glue on rick rack or any wide band ribbon with craft glue along the
   bottom of the puppet for embellishment.
4. When ribbon dries, have children use permanent markers or paint tubes or any tool to
   draw a face on top.
5. Have the children glue heart-shaped gold or silver doilies for wings. Another option for
   the wings is to trace the students’ hands onto metallic paper, cut them out and glue those
   onto the back of the puppet.
