An Activity for Preschoolers:
Discover the unique art of Indian mandalas!

Before You Begin:
Begin this colorful craft by gathering paper plates, self-adhesive foam shapes and glue.

Activity Goals:
To create a traditional Indian mandala while exploring symmetry, color and balance.

Furthermore:
Mandalas are a great way to explore color, shapes and symmetry while learning about
other cultures and art.

Steps:

  1. Paint a paper plate with a dark background color and allow to dry.
  2. Gather foam shapes in bright colors. To create a mandala, you should gather each shape
    in the same shade to create symmetry.
  3. Once the paper plate is dry, glue the foam pieces to the paper plate.
  4. Hang the finished mandala on a wall for a beautiful, collaborative classroom display.
