An Activity for Preschoolers:
Make a special box or bag to collect valentines!

Before You Begin:
Be aware that some cultures do not celebrate particular holidays. Make sure all the
children in your group are able to participate before doing this activity as a group project.

Activity Goals:
To make a personalized receptacle for holiday greetings.
To express individuality and creativity.
To experiment with collage and creatin g art with collage materials.

Furthermore:
This activity can also be done as generic activity, not centered on a holiday. Have the
children make “love boxes” or “friend boxes” and place them on a shelf in the room.
Whenever children would like to leave a fun note or picture for other friends in the
classroom, they can place the note in that child’s friend box.

Steps:

1. Have children decide if they want to decorate a bag or box.
2. Children can personalize their craft with collage items, stickers, markers, crayons and
   paint.
3. Allow all of the children’s bags or boxes to dry before using.
