An Activity for Preschoolers:

These precious bunnies and chicks are a delightful way to celebrate the season!

Before You Begin:

Gather the following materials: large, small and mini pom-poms, wood circles, glue, wiggly eyes and felt. Rainbow-striped pom-poms and other bright colors are especially popular for this activity.

Activity Goals:

To create decorative standing bunnies and chicks for dramatic play while developing fine motor skills.

Furthermore:

This activity is a great way to practice color recognition as children mix and match different colors of pom-poms.

Steps:

  1. Select a large pom-pom for the body and a smaller pom-pom for the head of each chick
    and bunny.
  2. Using glue, attach the small pom-pom to the large pom-pom on top to form the head.
  3. For the bunny, attach an even smaller mini pom-pom to the back as the tail
  4. Glue wiggly eyes onto the bunnies and chicks.
  5. Use felt to make ears and a nose for the bunny and a beak for the chick, and then glue
    them on
  6. Glue completed figures onto wood circles so that they are easy to play with!
