An Activity for Preschoolers:
Celebrate the start of summer with these sunny masks!

Before You Begin:
Gather the following materials to create these sunny masks: paper plates, paintbrushes
and yellow, orange and red paint. For younger children, teachers may wish to complete
step 1 themselves by cutting the centers out of the paper plates.

Activity Goals:
To create a fun, wearable mask to celebrate the summer.

Furthermore:
These sunny masks are fun for dramatic play, story time and weather-themed songs such
as You Are My Sunshine.

Steps:

1. Use scissors to cut out the center of the paper plate and the outside rays of the sun.
2. With a paintbrush and yellow paint, paint the remainder of the plate to represent the sun.
3. Make your mask extra sunny by adding other colors such as red and orange.
